“It was the poet William Butler Yeats who suggested that Synge come to these islands. ‘Go to Aran’.”

This photograph was taken on Inis Meáin, Aran Islands on the path to Synge’s Chair by Andy Haslam for The New York Times.

The New York Times published a fantastic and honest article on the Aran experience written by now travel writer and actor Andrew McCarthy .  There are many quotes that stand out in is article but this one stands out the most to us ”Part of the considerable allure of Aran lies in what it lacks.”

You can view the full article HERE.  Doolin Ferry travels to the Aran Islands daily from March to October, come write your own story.
